Custom automatic jewlry box packaging system video.

January 26, 2009

Custom Jewlry Box Packaging System.

Packard Inc. designed and built this custom packaging system.  We built a centrifugal feeder to automatically feed the bottom portion of the box.  From here it indexed down a conveyor where the operator could insert the product and any literature or additional packaging required.  The next station the product advanced to was the lid feed.  We built another centrifugal feeder to feed the lid of the box, and then position it over the awaiting filled product.  It would then advance to the case pack system where the completed product was cross raked into an awaiting case.

Diverter Chute for Metal stamping quality control and cost savings

January 14, 2009

This is a generic reject conveyor gate/chute made as an accessory for a Dorner Or QC conveyor. It is adjustable and will bolt on to a 2″ to 6″ wide conveyor. The fail safe spring loaded air cylinder defaults the gate to the reject position with loss of air pressure. The air valve allows control of the gate and the proximity sensor provides feedback confirmation of one of the two positions. The chute assembly is symmetrical in design and allows for assembly of either right hand or left hand exit.

*Automatically divert a set number
of parts at the startup of your
system.

*Automatically defaults to “Reject”
when air pressure is lost.

*Currently designed for several series Dorner and QC conveyors.

*Can be custom designed for your specific application.

*Improve your quality control while reducing labor costs.

Designers and Builders of Automation Equipment, Yes there are companies that still do that!

October 28, 2008

When our customers ask exactly what services we provide and what we do, I usually just say “We do it all.”  Now that is a little general I know, but we are not just a machine builder.  We are also not just a CNC part fabricator, or a welding and fabrication shop.  We really are so much more.  Below is a list of some of the main categories we touch on in the Machine Fabrication and Part Fabrication departments.

Metal Stamping automatic Part Counter and Diverter chute

October 3, 2008
The Problem: We have a customer who is a metal Eyelet stamper.  As soon as their Press fires up the first couple pieces it produces are not complete, “good” parts.  These parts exit down the conveyor to where the awaiting operator needs to manually remove them from the belt before they enter the good product bin.  The obvious problem with this is relying on a person that could easily miss a part, or simply be too preoccupied with all the other setup procedures to remember to get them.  This could be catastrophic for our customer if a bad part entered their “good” products and was found by the end customer.  It could mean a recall on thousands of parts all due to the simple mistake.
The Packard Inc Automated Solution:  Packard Inc designed and build an automatic part diverter that would count a set number of products at start up and divert them to the bad product bin.  After the set number of parts was reached, the chute would now divert the products to the “good” product bin.  This particular Part Diverter can work with QC Conveyors, Dorner Conveyors, etc, because it integrates after the conveyor.  The unit is controled by a small touchscreen/plc combo unit and is able to be moved from press to press with little difficulty.

Automatic Industrial Blister Pack (Clamshell) Opener by Packard Inc.

October 1, 2008

We were contacted by one of our customers to help solve a problem they were facing. They have a product which they need to reclaim for one reason or another. It could be due to a packaging change, or just mixing up their marketing by offering different products in a pack.

The “Old Way” of doing things was to have their operators use Razors to manually cut open the packages and reclaim the product. This posed a serious safety hazard as I am sure you can imagine. It was also a very SLOW and Tedious process.

Packard designed and built this automatic Blister opener.  It uses a rotary knife to automatically open the package.  This greatly reduces the risk of an operator getting hurt when opening a package of reclaimed product.  The High Quality, rugged, Industrial built system will cut through even the toughest plastic clamshell blister with ease.

Call Packard today to have us custom design and build a system for your application.

 Reverse Engineering

Packard Inc’s reverse Engineering Service is an asset to customers that need a new part manufactured but only have a physical example of the part without the drawing. We use the latest technology to accurately measure the example part, then using that information we utilize the industry standard AutoCad software to produce drawings. From those drawings we can then expertly machine precision parts.
